GARDENING CLASS ON MARCH 2 AT 9:30-11 A.M.: SUMMER VEGETABLES FOLLOWED BY OAK WILT

Neighbor Calvin Finch will talk on Saturday, March 2 at 9:30 a.m. at the DEERC property at 6802 Dorothy Louise to explain all the how-to’s of planting, watering and fertilizing. He will be promoting the class on his gardening show and possibly in his Saturday Express-News gardening article. So be sure to get there early and get a good seat!

Vegetable gardening is fun for kids, parents and seniors alike. There’s nothing like growing your own – fresh carrots and tomatoes, sweet peppers and jalapeños, potatoes, corn and even
okra! The summer vegetables pictured at right are fun to plant and easy to grow fast. And they’re delicious picked fresh for the table.

It doesn’t matter if you have a huge raised bed to plant, a tiny one or even a few containers, you and your family can easily grow and harvest summer vegetables. For children, it can become a lifelong fascination. Feel free to bring friends and family. Everyone who attends will get a free Rodeo tomato plant courtesy of Milberger’s Nursery!
